Background
Foyil was selected from Charter Kennel's litter of 6 pups by Ken Brotherton in the Summer of 2006. This breeding took place before any of Lonesome Cry's pups had even proven themselves at the track. Ken decided on a pup from this particular litter because of the bloodlines of the dam, Can She Cook, who happened to be from one of Pat Dalton's most successful damlines, Memory Giver.
Ken visited the "C" pup at the late Johnny Biehle's farm in Thorndale, Texas and was planning on naming the pup "Claremore" (after the town of his current residence in Oklahoma) until the name was refused by the NGA. Foyil was the next town up Route 66 and was the new choice. Foyil is best known as the home of the "World's Largest Totem Pole."
Foyil is a very special greyhound for Ken because he managed to compete and win against some of the best greyhounds in the country at Wheeling Island. Grade AA purses mounted to over $55k and managed to pay the college education expenses for his daughter, Andrea.
